What is Spin the Bottle online and how is it different from the real thing?
The original needs a bottle, a smooth floor and a group brave enough to kiss whoever it points at. This version keeps the suspense and replaces the kiss with a card: the chosen player answers a truth or performs a dare. The bottle is drawn on screen and spins over the names you entered, so the result is random and visible to everyone.
It is for parties, sleepovers, youth clubs and any evening where the group needs a fair way to decide who goes next.

How do you set up a game of Spin the Bottle on your phone?
Enter between three and twelve names, pick a card level, and tap Start. Put the phone where everyone can see it. Each spin animates for a few seconds before stopping on one name, and that player chooses Truth or Dare. After the card is done, anyone can spin again.
Players can be added or removed mid-game when someone arrives late or goes home, and the level can be changed between spins.
What might the bottle make you do?
The cards come from the same three-level deck as the truth or dare game. A selection of what a spin can land you with:
- Reveal a secret talent nobody in the circle knows about
- Speak in an accent until the bottle picks you again
- Hand your unlocked phone to the person on your left for one message
- Name the person in the room you would trust with your passwords
- Slow dance for thirty seconds with whoever the group chooses
Is the digital bottle really random?
Yes. Each spin picks a name with equal probability, no matter how many players there are or who spun. The animation just makes it look like a real bottle slowing down. If you want the game to avoid landing on the same person twice in a row, the group can agree to re-spin, but the odds themselves never change.
Why do people prefer the online bottle at parties?
Because it removes the two problems the real game always had: someone cheating the spin, and a kiss that half the circle did not want. With cards instead of kisses, the game works for a thirteen-year-old's birthday as well as a hen night, and the host decides the heat with the level setting. It is also the easiest way to run a party game outdoors: on grass, sand or a camping trip, where a real bottle will not spin at all. Youth workers use it as an icebreaker for groups that do not know each other, and families run the Friends level after dinner on holiday. When the group is small, two or three people, the Truth or Dare game without the bottle keeps the turns moving faster.
Spin the Bottle online: FAQ
How many players do you need for Spin the Bottle online?
At least three and at most twelve. With three the bottle has few targets and turns come round quickly; with ten or more the suspense of each spin is at its best. Names can be added or dropped during the game as people join or leave.
Do you have to kiss in Spin the Bottle online?
No. The bottle picks a player and that player gets a truth or a dare card. Some Spicy-level dares are flirty, such as a compliment that makes someone blush, but nothing on the cards requires kissing. Your group can of course add its own house rules.
Can I play Spin the Bottle without the truth or dare cards?
Yes. Simply use the spinner to pick a player and apply your own rule: they tell a story, take a sip, answer a question from the group, or do the classic version if everyone agrees. The cards are there for groups that want a ready-made consequence.
Does the bottle work on a tablet or laptop?
Yes. The spinner scales to any screen, so a tablet in the middle of the floor works well for larger groups. On a laptop it is handy for video calls: share the screen, spin, and the chosen friend does their dare on camera.
Is the game free and does it store names?
It is free with no sign-up. The names you type stay in your browser for the duration of the game and are not sent anywhere. Close the tab and they are gone, which is convenient when you would rather not leave evidence of who was at the party.
Which level should I choose for a teenage party?
Friends. The truths are about embarrassing photos and secret talents, the dares are about accents, impressions and profile pictures. Party and Spicy are written for adults, with references to drinking and crushes, so keep them for an older group.
